The Laestrygonians were said to have lived on the island of Lamos, in a city called Telepylos. Not something you want to meet in a dark alley. To those of you who haven’t, I’ll just sum these things up in three words. If you’ve ever read Homer’s Odyssey, you know these disturbing brutes. And so, dear reader, here are ten monsters from the ancient myths you do not want to meet. The days of the ancients and our ancestors, however, probably produced some of the most terrifying monsters. Alas, nowadays we have vampires that sparkle and emotionally conflicted were-beings. Mythology is filled to the brim with monsters, and monsters have been a part of human culture since our earliest days.
